Cheep Talk!

There is a Stampin' Up! set called Cheep Talk. I am obsessed with it! The card below is one that I recently did with a wild group of women at a workshop hosted by my friend Nicole. We had so much fun teaching stamping newbies the ropes...and of course had two fun cards to take home at the end of the night.
The card below is really simple to make. First of all we colored the little bird with the marker to stamp technique. And added bling to the wing with glitter and a glue pen. Of course we used my favorite Stampin' Up! paper punches for the circle and scalloped circle flower in the middle of the card. The solid cardstock colors are chocolate chip, rose red, kiwi kiss and whisper white. The patterned 1by1 inch squares were made with the designer series paper "raspberry tarte".

My first online card swap!

Stampin' Up! Catalog update!

Hey all you Stampin' Up! lovers! I got the announcement that stampin' up is going back to an annual catalog, instead of the bi-annual. I am so excited because it means all of the seasons...and well all of our stamping needs will be back in one book! Hooray! Here is the listing from the demonstrator website to give a layout of their publication plans starting July 2009:

• Beginning in July 2009, we will go back to an annual catalog.
• The US Hispanic supplement will also become an annual catalog.
• The Décor Elements catalog will continue to be separate from the Idea Book & Catalog, and will come out twice a year.
• The mini catalog program will change to include three mini catalogs a year, each lasting for four months.

What's up!

We have some great friends who just had a baby boy. I actually got inspired and made a card for them! I also used the rub ons from stampin' up! Which are so easy, see "welcome little one" on the card. Anywho I made their card by paper piecing the little elephant. I first stamped the image on white, then stamped it again on orange and cut our just the elephant. Then with pop dots I raised the elephant up a bit. I loved using buttons for the wheels too!

Most of you know that I had a super fun stamp camp at my house the day before super bowl. We had so much fun talking, I don't remember teaching anything! One of the attendees had this great version of a gift card I made. I love how she shredded the ribbon to make it look like it was blowing in the wind of the fan! Marissa gets stamp party MVP!

Re-organized...AGAIN!

My husband and I are once again trying to re-organize. Does anyone else understand "re-organization" as another term for "can't find space for all of our junk"!? I'm not sure how much more we can fit in our apartment...BUT I love re-organizing because I almost always get a more organized...let's call it a paper crafting studio! haha! Doesn't that sound professional? So here are a few pics of my collection so far!

Most of you who have seen my room know that I only get half. The other half belongs to hubby. I am making progress in my take over though! So I have moved in some bookcases so everything is visible. Which helps when I am making things. You know, "out of sight, out of mind" I was never using the stuff I had that was in drawers or worse yet in the bottom of the drawers!

For all of you renters out there, I just wanted to show a close up of my "decor elements" from Stampin' Up! It is like a decal for your walls. I chose the definition "create". I think it is fitting for this area in our home! The great thing about these is that they are totally removable if you change apartments or change moods and want to decorate differently. I'll update you when I get some more! I am being indecisive, but I know I will get more.

Just a little close up of my favorite chair...in pink...that's why it is my favorite! It is not that comfortable! But you can also see that I have some rubbermaid drawers behind my desk. I use them for tools like my heat gun, paper crimper, envelopes, etc. And then it also creates another surface where I put my cuttelbug and even more paper.

That is my little tour. As I tell everyone my ultimate goal is to have an entire room all to myself and have a real studio! I'll invite you all over when that happens! Happy crafting!

My Hubby did a Christmas Craft!

I had some double sided scrapbook paper left over from my Christmas cards. So I cut it into little strips. Use your judgement and on the size of the strip. Ours were 1in x 2in. Then we simply took Styrofoam cones and straight pins and the decorating began. I also used little wooden blocks, covered in scrapbook paper, for the base. I wasn't sure how the finish the top off...so pine cones and ribbon seemed like a good solution. We were pretty impressed with ourselves! I think you could do this sort of thing for every holiday. You could make a valentine tree or easter tree...or my new favorite idea, a halloween tree...with spides and creepy stuff!

I know...I know what you are thinking....I actually made some Christmas cards...AND posted them before Christmas is over!!! Hooray! So here are my samples. I used the blue card with mittens for my monthly card swap group. So Hooray one more time and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
